14–19 September
Campaign week
Under the motto ‘Democracy needs many voices’, the participating media organisations are inviting the public and policymakers to a dialogue from 14 to 19 September 2026 about the importance of credible information and professional journalism. During the campaign week, they plan to publish and
broadcast a wide range of content in print, on radio and television, in podcasts and across digital media, alongside public discussions and conversations with editorial teams.
Each editorial team is independently responsible for its own content.
Taking place around the International Day of Democracy on 15 September, the joint campaign week aims to inform a wide audience and spark public debate about the future of the democratic public sphere.
It champions diversity in content and programming, not individual media organisations or business models. Giving a wide range of voices a platform and reflecting different perspectives are both an expression of, and a prerequisite for, a vibrant democratic public sphere.
That is what the campaign week stands for.
